Ted Musgrave, #9 Team ASE/Germain Toyota Tundra
CONCORD, NC (September 18, 2006) ?? Ted Musgrave??s shortened race truck from last weekend??s New Hampshire race weekend sends him to Vegas all tied up in the points standings. In driver??s points, he??s tied for fifth, while in owner??s points, his team is tied for 6th as they head to a track where both the team and driver have ???a checkered past.??
???I really don??t know what to expect when we get to Vegas. I haven??t seen the new track, but I have won on the old Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Germain Racing has won there, so we??re pretty confident we can put together a strong enough truck to pick up some of the points we lost in New Hampshire,??? said Musgrave, who finished a disappointing 31st following an accident on lap 90.
Musgrave has ten starts at ???old?? Las Vegas, including a top ten run in the NEXTEL Cup Series with Jack Roush and a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory in 2001. Last fall, Musgrave finished 2nd to now teammate Todd Bodine.
???It??s hard to say what we??ll see as far as racing action at Vegas this weekend. Our team will take two trucks, one is a brand new truck that??s not been on-track before. The Team ASE guys will set up the trucks with a setup suited to my driving style and the other truck will match Todd??s. We??ll both make some laps to see which truck and which setup is going to work best for us,??? said Musgrave, the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion.
Looking toward the season??s end, Musgrave is concerned that the misfortune this past weekend at Loudon may have cost the team a chance for a 1-2 finish in the points race.
???You know I was really hoping Todd and I could pull off a one-two finish in the points for the Germain??s and for our sponsors. I don??t know if that will be possible after the New Hampshire race, but that??s kind of a goal of mine for this year,??? said Musgrave. ???Maybe we can pick up some good luck here in Vegas and make up a lot of ground in a hurry.???
Musgrave is tied for fifth in points with David Starr, 334 points behind leader and teammate Todd Bodine.
