Add Your Review! Great Truck!! Tundra V8 4WD / Tundra 4x4 Access Cab V8
| | Model | Tundra 4x4 Access Cab V8 | | | What things have gone wrong with the car? | Squeak in dash in cold weather. Easily fixed with pre-molded round 1/2" foam insulation jammed between dash and windshield. Front and rear brakes replaced under TSB, but the fronts again started to pulse between 45-50 mph. Probably they need turned again, but it's only noticeable when slowing down from over 50 mph. I don't worry about it. | | | | |
| | | General comments? | Love this truck. Very sure footed, quick, dependable, never lets me down. The stock tires are junk. Switched to BFG All-Terrain T/As, much better. This truck has excellent confidence-inspiring power, but it's all above 3000 rpm; not much in the way of low-end torque. Also recommend the installation of a rear sway bar--this significantly reduced the Tundra's understeer, and improved handling markedly. I just wish the gas mileage was better. Typically getting 15.35 mpg (city-highway mix), but I don't baby it. But on a long highway trip usually at speeds of 80-85 mph I got almost 18. I was very pleased with that. I highly recommend this truck--no breakages, no strange vibes (except for brakes mentioned above) no problems to speak of. | | | Engine and transmission | 4.7 L V8--4 sp. auto | | | Performance | very quick | | | Reliability | 10 out of 10! | | | Distance when acquired | bought it new | | | Most recent distance | 83,000 mi. on it now | | | Previous car | 1992 Toyota Pickup | | | First year of ownership | 2002 | | | Most recent year of ownership | 2008 |
